Patterson was bragging about Cal culture in lecture last week. Intel and Microsoft chose Berkeley as the site for a $10 million Universal Parallel Computing Research Center (aka ParLab) back in 2007 (source). And he told us not to tell anyone, but that Simons had already chosen us as well, but that they weren’t announcing it until the 1st.
Proud to be a (computer scientist) bear? No doubt.
